Olsson Dinner - November

Last month was our first monthly dinner with the Olssons (LaRae, Brad, Bradley and Brooke) so this month it was our turn to host.  I made my super meaty lasagna and while we didn't get as wild and crazy as last month's dinner, it was still fun.  The kids love running around and generally being crazy with one another, which is fun to watch.  I can't believe LaRae and I have been friends for almost 3 years!

Time flies.  But life is good.  We are truly blessed.

Brooke Lynne dropping it like it's hot.
Note: Yes, her name really is Brooke Lynne, like Brooklyn.  I plan on buying her her first gun when she turns 2! ;-)

Drinks with Dewaun

My good friend from college Dewaun had a layover at the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport yesterday so I met up with for about 3 hours of drinks and reminiscing.  He was on his way to Baltimore for a weekend of partying with another one of our friends from college and it made me really nostalgic for Milwaukee... dorm rooms.... keggers.... even final exams!

It's so good to see old college friends and see where life has taken/is taking all of us.  I'm seriously so bad at keeping in touch and the only person from college I talk to regularly (other than Jason) is Casey :-(  I think my New Year's resolution for 2011 will be to keep old friendships stronger.  With college 5 years behind me already it's getting easier and easier to become a hermit and I really don't want that!

Here's to you

P.S. It took me for.ev.er. to find my car!  Epic fail for Lindbergh terminal planners.

Picasso

My little blog view ticker is informing me that viewership is down... I'm guessing it's from me slacking and not posting as often!  I will remedy that, I promise.  It's just that Eva has the crud right now- bright green snot, nasty cough, yellowish skin, the whole schbang- so photos of her aren't exactly the cutest right now.

But I took some of her coloring yesterday anyway.  She is finally getting tall enough to get some good use out of her art easel!

And a potty shot for good measure

These are a few of Eva's favorite things

1. Talking on the phone.  The real phone, not any of the numerous play phones we've bought her over the years.  So, if you ever get a call from my phone and I'm not on the other end- you've probably been "baby dialed."

2. Taking pictures.  Again, God forbid she actually like her Disney Princess play camera.  Oh no, she only likes our real digital camera.  We are getting her either a v-tech or fischer price kid friendly digital camera for Christmas so that we don't have to worry about her breaking the real one anymore.

3. Dancing.  To be more specific, she reeeally enjoys dancing naked.  When you think about it, what could be more liberating and fun than naked dancing?  Ahhh to be 2 again.

4. The gym.  Eva calls it "playing with dollies" as there are numerous dolls in the dollhouse and that's her favorite part.  She also really likes the maze they have for bigger kids.  For awhile we were going to the gym so often she would scream "WE'RE HOME!" when we pulled up!  I've broken her of that but she still asks to go to the gym by 8:30 a.m. everyday.
Note: She is the only kid at the childcare center that has a list of "notes" in their internal computer system and her notes are things like, "Eva will take her name tag sticker off and eat it" or "Eva will eat crayons, watch her closely when coloring" or, my personal favorite, "Eva will lick the hand sanitizer off her hands if not watched"...

5. Sleeping in Mommy & Daddy's bed.  Where to start... she's always slept in her own bed but lately she'll wake up in the middle of the night or really early morning and I'm so tired and out-of-it I don't really know what's going on so I just pull her up in bed with us and that's that.  I'll keep everyone posted on how that works out but for now, waking up to her little smiling face saying "Hi Mommy" is just too sweet to stay mad.

6. Cleaning.  She has a squirt water bottle at home and at Baba's and she's mildly obsessed with cleaning things.  I guess there are worse things to be OCD about.

7-10. Honorable Mentions: Nose picking, finger nail biting, farting and squirting the dog with water.  What a lady!

And because no blog post is complete without photos, here's some from the 5-8 Grill.

Auntie Mallori Visit

Jason's little sister Mallori and her girlfriend, Fawn, came to Minnesota this weekend.  We won't see them over Thanksgiving or Christmas so this might be the last visit until Eva's birthday in April!

We started out Saturday night at Broadway Pizza- great as always- then hung out at home and after Eva went to bed we got the party started downstairs.  Complete with shots and drunken Scattergories.  Noah came over too, which was great; the 4 of us silibings are hardly ever all together at the same time.  With daylight savings time we got an extra hour of partying and finally called it a night around 3:00 a.m.!

Eva and I went to church the next morning to give the Hungovertons a chance to sleep in quiet :-)  We took advantage of the amazing weather with a long walk and watched the Vikings and Packers football games- gotta love when they are both on channels that we can watch.

The girls leave tomorrow morning and they will be missed!

It took Eva all of 3 minutes to cuddle right up with Auntie Mallori when she arrived!

Don't tell Eva but Santa is bringing her a digital camera of her own this Christmas

More photos from the dog park in Ramsey.  We are trying to go as much as possible before it gets too cold which, will probably be any day :-(

Hanging Out

Eva loves two things lately- playing with dollies and sitting on the big girl potty for extended amounts of time.
