Christmas Program

Tonight was Eva's Christmas program/concert at her school and she was such a doll.  Her class consists of 3 through 6 year olds so she sort of follows along with the older kids at times, but she held her own and camped it up during Frosty the Snowman.  It was too dark in the large gym to get any photos during the singing but I'll post what I was able to snap.  She also received a congratulatory new dress from Baba for a job well done- lucky girl!

Birthday Week Day #7

Final day of my birthday week has finally arrived.  Eva and I went to church with Baba and then grabbed some brunch at Hudy's since we haven't been there in months.  After that it was Christmas cookie baking with Baba and Uncle Noah.  I rounded out the evening with working out at home with Jason, a total house cleaning (call me crazy but a clean house is just about the best gift I could ever get) a yummy dinner of BWW parmesan garlic wings - made by yours truly - and now Dexter season finale on Showtime.  Great, great day.

As my birthday week comes to an end I feel incredibly blessed.  I have so many fun, loving, and thoughtful people in my life.  Add to that a husband who is so good to me, a daughter who amazes me more and more everyday and a family that is so generous and I am one happy 28 year old.  I feel great things are in store for the coming year, perhaps we'll even get around to buying a house now that Jason and I both moved up at our jobs and plan on staying put for once.  Whatever may come, I thank God everyday for my life.  Thank you to all who made me week great.  Now on to Christmas and New Years- the fun just keeps on coming!

I wonder if 16 year old hippie Baba ever would have thought her life would end up where it did...

Birthday Week Day #6

Saturday was another great day.  In the morning I took Eva to breakfast with Santa at the gym and for once she didn't cry on his lap.  She was a bit shy to tell him the list of things she normally spouts off to me (barbie with a car, princess, pink sparkly kitty, a horse!) but she is now very excited for Santa to come next week.  I love being able to use the "You have to be good or Santa can't bring you any presents" line for as long as I can.

After Santa, we did our normal Saturday routine; Eva hung out in the childcare center while I worked out and then we went swimming.  After the gym Jason and Eva got hair cuts since they were both looking a little scraggly and we all know Santa and Baby Jesus don't like scraggly families ;-)

Then I got to take a nap, which makes any day that much better, and after Eva fell asleep we headed out to Wild Bill's for my friend Matt's birthday celebration.  I share my birthday week with Maria, Matt, my mother-in-law and my sister-in-law's girlfriend... cool kids are born in the middle of December.

Birthday Week Day #5

Friday of my birthday week and what a relaxing one it was.  I took a vacation day from my day job and had a co-worker take my shift at the restaurant so I was totally off duty all day.  Jason took Eva to school before heading into work for a few hours so I was able to sleep in so late I almost thought I was back in college again.  I went tanning, picked Eva up, hunted for an ugly Christmas sweater (to no avail) then came home for a bit of working out while Eva and Jason napped and then Eva and I headed to my friend Jessica's for a holiday party.  She and her family moved to a great house in St. Anthony and I only wish I had her eye for decorating :-)

maybe I can steal him for just a week to make me a china hutch...

Birthday Week Day #4

Yet another enjoyable day in my birthday week :-)  I had a good day at work and was able to take my last final of the semester two hours early.  Sooo nice to get it out of the way, especially when I'm a big believer in you don't learn anything new "cramming"; things have to have been committed to memory at least over night for them to come back to you efficiently in an exam.

At any rate this post will be quick, I found this cool photo of a Swedish proverb and wanted to share.  As I am now 28 + 1 day old, this is going to be my motto for the coming year.  Enjoy!

Birthday Week Day #3

My actual birthday, December 14th, was fabulous!  I went into work early and was greeted by a lovely homemade cake that a co-worker made for me, I hen left work around 1:30 to meet up with Baba downtown.  We did our traditional Macy's shopping (fabulous!) and we both scored some awesome new shoes, clothes and, of course, MAC make up :-)

After filling our shopping bags so full they hurt to carry, we headed to Uptown to have dinner at Burger Jones.  Baba had never been there but she was not disappointed; she liked it so much she actually bought one of their witty shirts.  With burger comas setting we we made it to the Lagoon theater to see Melancholia.  A very good but VERY depressing movie- don't know what I expected with a name like Melancholia!  Today, Thursday, keeps the birthday fun rolling with work and then taking my criminal law final but I have tomorrow off as a vacation day so I'll get to stay up late and catch up on some much needed time with Jason.

She made the flowers by hand too!
